Allies or Adversaries?

It’s not really an either/or…

Survival plus our personal beliefs continue to present to us the universe as a dualistic choice when it reaches our conscious awareness.

The mind sees in terms of opposites:  i.e., black ~ white, good ~ bad, yes ~ no, yin ~ yang, right ~ left, friend ~ foe.

The brain sees “lukewarm”, “grey”, “maybe”; it also sees inclusive patterns and especially new choices.

What is IA’s Body’s Map?

Many body mapping systems exist.  This one, empirically developed over four decades of direct experience and observation of tens of thousands of people, is built into you, and we believe that it is designed to be explored and verified by anyone with the willingness and curiosity to do so.

Integrated Awareness, belonging, forgiveness

Integrated Awareness is

an innately human set of skills for healing and wholeness through movement, touch, enhanced awareness and changes of consciousness.  We are each a complete person, but we often feel ourselves to be a collection of parts, any of which can put up filters and set off defenses preventing us from living in the now.

Ahhh – Stress!
You have enough… but do you really know what it is?

Stress is the body’s best effort to accommodate your conflicting intentions:

  • “I have to, but I can’t”
  • “If I don’t, they’ll be mad”
  • “I’ll be punished, but I still want to”

These were all laid down as children, complicated by adolescence and stressful now!

Do you know the difference between Fear, Terror and Panic?

Whatever we fear isn’t happening yet – it’s imagination.

Terror is a bottom line body-brain reaction to a real, present time threat.

Panic is when either one takes over the other’s brain circuits!

gratitude, rituals, wants ,support

For many of us, the holidays just passed brought into sharp focus the contrasts between our inner and outer worlds.

  • People, rituals and memories reenacted and absent
  • Environments re-entered and carried around with us
  • Confusion between present wants and passed needs

All help to drowned out our sense of Self. And they can still give raise to equally powerful and expansive changes which seem appropriate as the new year is upon us.

“If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head.  If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.”

… began as your “Infant’s Overwhelm”.

A great many of us share an urgent need to somehow make things better in the world – but the price of doing so is feeling what isn’t working, appropriately named “compassion fatigue”.

While an infant, nearly everything is intense, and often too much so.  A necessary part of growth and adaptation is learning to selectively filter, numb out or even shut down – exactly what cannot be done when developing compassion as an adult.

senses, time, connect, distance, lost

“What is most amazing is not how our senses span distance or cultures, but how they span time.  Our senses connect us to the past, connect us intimately in ways that most of our cherished ideas never could.”  - D. Ackerman

You have at least thirteen senses.  Can you feel which ones you ignore?

On Nov. 16, we will look for the lost ones…
